As you can imagine, Professor Crawly comes into contact with all kinds of bug life. One of these species is Darrel the Dragonfly who is proud of who he is.
Being proud is not being boastful about yourself. Being proud is an internal sense of yourself that magically generates respect from others, without you boasting about it. It is the feeling of pride you feel, for the accomplishment achieved when you are intellectually or physically challenged, and you have just participated in the Special Olympics events.
Being proud is the feeling you get when you conquer riding a bike for the first time. Feeling proud is knowing you have done the right thing. Being proud is accomplishing your goals, no matter how big or small. Being proud is knowing you are not dishonest and knowing you do not cheat, steal, or lie. Teach your preschooler the proper way of being proud without being boastful.
These books are a series of lessons for children ages 4-6 years old, on positive attitudes for life experiences and illustrated through the use of bugs, slugs, and other crawly things. They are taught by a wise old ant named Professor Crawly who uses all his crawly friends to teach his lessons.
This is a series of books too help kids accomplish three things:
1) Become less frightened of crawly things at an early age
2) Teach the benefits achieved in our environment by the crawly things on our planet
3) Teach them encouraging lessons and important principles about self-image and interaction with others
Online Book Club Review:
Gary Chase teaches young children about being proud in Professor Crawly's Darrel the Dragonfly Lesson 4 . In the fourth lesson of the 15-book series, the clever ant introduces his friend Darrel. The swift dragonfly exemplifies pride through his daring feats of flying. Preschoolers will also learn simple facts about dragonflies from the amusing rhyming text.
The 26-page children's book features collaborative illustrations by Chase and his granddaughter. Delaney designs the character's "look," providing the inspiration for her grandfather's illustrations. What I like most about the book is Chase's creative use of illustrations to educate young children. Darrel's flying adventures teach preschoolers about pride, self-worth, confidence, individuality, and bravery. The picture book features cute illustrations and teaches basic principles of pride and self-worth to preschoolers.
