DESCRIPTION:

Professor Crawly is very observant, and is fascinated by the loyalty of Bobby the Bushy Bee and the rest of his beehive family.

One of the most beneficial characteristics of a person is loyalty. People want to feel that they can depend on you. They  want to know you will have their back when times get rough. They want to know you will stand up for them when they're being bullied, or are being accused of a wrong doing, or are being made fun of. Use this lesson to teach your preschooler the importance of Loyalty to family and friends.

These books are a series of lessons for children ages 4-6 years old, on positive attitudes for life experiences and illustrated through the use of bugs, slugs, and other crawly things. They are taught by a wise old ant named Professor Crawly who uses all his crawly friends to teach his lessons.

This is a series of books too help kids accomplish three things:

1)  Become less frightened of crawly things at an early age

2) Teach the benefits achieved in our environment by the crawly things on our planet

3) Teach them encouraging lessons and important principles about self-image and interaction with others

Online Book Club Review:

***3 out of 4 stars***

Professor Crawly Lesson 3 by Gary Chase introduces readers to bees and loyalty. The author shows readers beehives and encourages them to look at the dynamic inside of it. Bees work with one another to pollinate plants and prepare for long winter months when they don't leave their hive. Readers are then introduced to Bobby the bee, who is part of the beehive. He and his family show how loyalty and hard work help them throughout the year.

I have also read Professor Crawly Lesson 2 by Gary Chase and was happy to see that this was a series I could continue reading. As with the last book, I thought Professor Crawly Lesson 3 was remarkably straightforward. I like how it shows how bees are helpful to the environment as many kids see a bug that might hurt them. Even more so, the author and characters encourage loyalty to friends and family. I thought this was admirable to try to instill at an early age.

As I said with the second book, the illustrations look like something children do. I didn't particularly like or dislike them, but kids may be fond of them as it is something they can relate to. That said, I had some issues with the bees. The drawings of bees changed throughout the book. Bobby the bee was rather animated, similar to the other main characters in the Professor Crawly series. However, the other bees were not like this. The other bees also changed throughout the book. Some were rounded and some rather angular. I, personally, didn't like this for the consistency issue, though it may not be noticeable for others.

Overall, I have to give the book 3 out of 4 stars. There was a grammatical error in the book, which was taken into consideration with the above. It was minor, however, as the book was only twenty-two pages and reportedly edited, should have been caught.

I would recommend this book to young readers, particularly to those in elementary school and preschool. Teachers would also find this book beneficial to have in their classrooms. It is a good teaching aid for many things and kids are sure to enjoy this easy-to-read book.
